The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has announced the recovery of 1,519 stolen vehicles in 2024 through its electronic central motor registry (e-CMR) platform, an innovative tool designed to tackle vehicle-related crimes.
The e-CMR is a digital platform that allows vehicle owners to register their details, aiding police investigations and improving recovery efforts. The NPF had earlier urged Nigerians to take advantage of the platform by registering their vehicles.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, highlighted the success of the initiative and the progress made so far in January 2025.
“The efforts of the force in combating crime in various spheres cannot be overemphasized, specifically in the area of vehicle theft, as the Nigeria Police Force recorded the successful recovery of 1,519 vehicles in the last year,” Adejobi said.
“So far in this month of January 2025, the force has recorded the recovery of 52 vehicles, while many stolen vehicles are being investigated for recovery.
“This success was made easy due to the cooperation of the public using the e-CMR portal.
