Governor Nasir El-Rufai has disclosed that the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has shortlisted and invited 27,000 applicants out of the 43,000 that applied for teaching job for interview on Wednesday.
The governor made this known through the State Commissioner for Education, Jaafaru Sani.
He said that having marked the examination scripts, SUBEB last Saturday sent invitation to the shortlisted applicants.
The commissioner disclosed that the board is working hard to ensure that the first batch of teachers who met the required competence, qualification and professional standard are deployed to schools by February 2018.
Sani said 12,000 out of the 21,780 teachers that were disengaged for failing the recent competency test conducted by the state government have re-applied in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
While he noted that disengaged teachers who have put in five to nine years of service would be paid their gratuities, he explained that those who have put in 10years and above would be paid pension.
