Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and current acting chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Haliru Bello Mohammed, has been arraigned before a federal high court in Abuja to answer to charges against him on illegal diversion of funds.
The case is a subset of the ongoing investigation and prosecution of those involved in the alleged mismanagement of $2.1bn meant for the purchase of arms for Nigerian soldiers by the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
Mohammed is being arraigned alongside his son. He arrived the court premises in an ambulance and was driven into the court room in a wheelchair.
