Former chair of the appropriations committee of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said he will not apologise to speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, despite the speaker’s letter on Wednesday threatening a lawsuit if he fails to do so.
“I will not and will never apologise to a shameless fraud in high office who has glaringly abused public trust like Speaker Dogara,” said Jibrin in a statement on social networking site Twitter.
Jibrin said that the only reason Dogara was threatening to sue was so that he could stop an investigation in the house against him with the pretext that what is already in court cannot be discussed on the floor of the house.
The Kano lawmaker however said his lawyers have approached the EFCC to fix a date for him to personally submit his petition against the speaker and three other principal officers of the House.
“I stand by my allegations and will not withdraw them,” he said.
