I strongly write with open mind to call our dear Senators and statesmen boldly on the ongoing issue of gender equality which is not in line with religious practices and traditions. The bill is also contradicting section 42(1) (b) of the Constitution, this bill is in fact denying the right to worship for we sturdily believe obeying the decree of God is worshipping Him also disobeying Him is refusal to worship Him, indeed is God that has elevated men on women not in term of faith but in some worldly activities, she may even be spiritually and morally sound but the difference is still there, men are just like servants to women, that is why they (men) were/are given more power, the comparison is the same with you Senators, you were/are given supplementary power than us; good salary, luxurious cars, shield and much more not because you are better than us but because you are our servants, for you to serve us well you need copious than us.
I did not forget you my dear Senators, we have been watching all that is going on this issue but to sadly mention only few of you objected this motion, you should better know the reason why we voted you into office, you are to strongly serve us till your last blood not to serve your interest, wake up from the slumber that has taken you, if you really don’t know the repercussion of this bill then I suggest you voluntarily retire for you are of no use to us. It is indeed shame on our good elected Muslim/Christian Senators to keep silent while this issue is on ground. At this juncture I will not forget to recommend the effort of Senator Ahmad Yerima – Zamfara, Senator Adamu Aleiru – Kebbi, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha – Taraba, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe who contributed incalculably in confronting this bill.
To my religious sects such as Jamaatu Izalatl Bidati Wa Iqamats Sunnah (JIBWIS), Jama’atu Nasrul Islam (JNI), Fityanul Islam of Nigeria (FIN) and others, we are effusively aware of your generous support spiritually and morally but indeed we haven’t heard from you up till now concerning this great hazard that is facing us, we are incontrovertibly in an urgent situation that we need your kind assistance in enlighten society about the jeopardy of this bill.
This did not just halt here with Senators and religious leaders but correspondingly to NGOs, the issue of gender equality is totally not to our level, and this is western way of thinking which doesn’t match country like Nigeria with different religious faith, custom and character. I believe if this bill is never contrary to your religious believe in one way or the other it must be contradicting your traditional belief. Let’s join force together and say no to gender equality but gender equity.
