WALE
American – Nigerian rapper Wale is being sued by popular show promoter Paul O and his company UPMG after collecting $25k (N11 Million) and not showing up at a show.
In this recession, can someone scam you of $25,000 (N7 million official conversion rate or N11milion black-market rate) and go scot free? Of course not! This is exactly how popular show promoter Paul O and his company Upfront and Personal Music Group UPMG feel right now.
According to international gossip site TMZ, Paul O on behalf of his company has sued popular Nigerian – American rapper Wale for failing to show up at the One Africa Music Fest in New York after collecting his performance fee of $25K.
In the court documents obtained by TMZ, Upfront shows a signed contract between Wale’s camp and the company, plus 2 wire transfers for $12.5k a piece. They claim after Wale did not appear on the show, he went silent on them when asked to return the money.
It is as a result of this that UPMG sued Wale. When asked about the allegations, Wale’s current representative stated that the rapper’s ex-manager booked the show, and took the money for it. The rep says Wale never saw a dime and the ex-manager never returned the cash.
