Justine Skye’s 8 Ounces EP, named after the average weight of a female heart, hit the Internet on Friday (Dec. 23). In March, the self-proclaimed purple unicorn signed with Roc Nation, making this her first project on the label.
“Now that I’m 21, I’m meeting different people from different parts of the world and I’m figuring out myself more and figuring out guys more. This whole EP is my diary of situations that I’ve gone through since my last project,” Skye recently told Genius.
Inspired by love and relationships, the nine-track EP finds Skye teaming up with songwriting/production geniuses The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.
“The-Dream was like my diary,” she continued. “I would sit there and talk his ear off about all my guy situations; he would just turn my stories into songs.” The songstress also released snippets from her upcoming project via Instagram so fans could get a sneak peek.
