Bauchi state governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has denounced reports making the round that there is an outbreak of Cerebro-spinal Meningitis (CSM) in the state.
He made this known through the State Commissioner for Health, Halima Mukaddas.
Mukaddas revealed that contrary to reports, no case of meningitis has been recorded so far in the state.
The Commissioner said precautions against the deadly disease such as meningitis vaccination has started in primary healthcare centres in the state, therefore, no need for residents to panic.
She added that drugs to stop the outbreak of an epidemic have also been purchased.
Mukaddas, however, confirmed five cases of Lassa fever in Alkaleri, Ganjuwa and Bauchi councils.
She said two persons have been confirmed dead while three others are still receiving treatment.
