There are indications that Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney could complete a free transfer return to Everton by the end of this week.
According to talkSPORT, the Toffees are eager to grab the United’s record goalscorer this summer.
It was gathered that sources close to the Merseyside club believe it is ‘almost inevitable’ that Rooney will be clad in Everton’s jersey again.
Similarly, The Sun reports that the deal is all but completed.
It is believed that the United captain has been withdrawn from the club’s squad that will head to the US for their pre-season tour.
And it was further gathered that he (Rooney, that is) could continue to earn £250,000-per-week at the club.
The England striker’s return to the Toffees comes 13 years after he left Goodison for Old Trafford.
Rooney has won five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League, the Europa League and the Club World Cup.
He also achieved the feat of becoming United’s all-time record goalscorer last season with 253 goals to his name.
