Jerry Lewis, veteran American entertainer, whose comedies like “The Nutty Professor” propelled him to millions, died on Sunday at the age of 91, his family said.
Lewis, according to a family statement, died of natural causes at his home in Las Vegas
One of the most popular comic actors of the 1950s and ’60s, Lewis was a master of the role of the quirky clown.
It was gathered that Lewis had been hospitalised for about five weeks beginning in early June for a urinary tract infection.
The infection kept him from traveling to Toronto to appear in a film, his spokeswoman, Candi Cazau, told Reuters by telephone.
