Spanish giant Real Madrid are set to open an international football academy in Rivers state, Nigeria.
The Rivers state government, Interact Sports and Real Madrid Campus Experience will partner in setting up the football academy and the process for the establishment of it had commenced already.
The football academy would be affiliated to Real Madrid Football Club of Spain.
MoU to be signed
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the state’s Sports Commissioner, Iyaye, said a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed and the location of the academy would be determined soon.
“This meeting is for us to work out modalities for the setting up of an academy that will be affiliated with Real Madrid Football Club.
“The academy will scout talents across the state and develop these talents,” he stated.
The Vice President of Interact Sports, Kazma confirmed the group is in the state to establish a football academy.
Kazma said the academy would be run using international standards to groom the young footballers into stars.
