A 17-year-old boy has been detained by the police for allegedly killing his mother over a missing mobile memory card.
The boy identified as Emmanuel Gyan from Sefwi Wiawso Municipal district in Ghana, was said to have reportedly killed his 52-year-old mother, Faustina Agyeiwaa in their Wassa J.Y residence.
Reports says that on January 15, Emmanuel hit his mother with a pestle on the head repeatedly leading to her death.
He was nabbed by his own father Isaac Somuah, 58, and one Stephen Amponsah while he was attempting to set the corpse of his mother ablaze.
The Sefwi Wiawso police told pressmen that Gyang was brought to the station by his father and Stephen Amponsah.
Somuah and Amponsah told the police that Gyan had accused his mother of taking his memory card which she denied.
They said Gyan got upset and started hitting his mother with a pestle on the head which led her death.
Her body has since been deposited at the Bibiani government hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
