Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Morocco international Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid on loan.
The 19-year-old full-back started all three of Morocco’s games in Russia this summer in the left-back position as they exited the tournament at the group stage. An aggressive, attacking defender, he broke into Real Madrid’s first-team squad under Zinedine Zidane last season, scoring two goals in nine league matches and starting both UEFA Champions League group games against Tottenham Hotspur.
“Achraf Hakimi is a young, very dynamic full-back who has played at the very highest level with Real Madrid and the Morocco national team,” BVB sporting director Michael Zorc said.
Born in Madrid to parents of Moroccan descent, Hakimi linked up with the reigning European champions when he was eight years old, before eventually making his full international debut with Morocco in October 2016.
