In an effort to prevent the NLC planned strike, President Buhari has called for an emergency FEC meeting on the new minimum wage, on January 15.
The Nation reports that the emergency FEC meeting is said to address the draft bill on the new minimum wage and also then be possibly passed to the National Assembly for quick approval.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has earlier held a warning protest all over the country over the delay of the new 30,000 minimum wage.
A source in anonymity told newsmen that “all members of the FEC have been advised to cut short official visits or campaign activities in their states to be at the session.”
Further on weather the salaries of workers earning above the N30,000 minimum wage will be downward reviewed, the source said: “It is going to be a comprehensive FEC meeting. We will look at all options.”
