Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on Thursday, regarding the currency redesign and naira swap policy.
The CBN governor’s appearance follows threats from lawmakers to issue a warrant of arrest against him for ignoring previous invitations.
Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, stated on Thursday that he would issue a warrant to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to force Emefiele’s attendance in response to the House’s summon.
Emefiele was present at the hearing, accompanied by top officials of the central bank, including the Deputy Governor of the Economic Policy Directorate, Kingsley Obiora.
