Agbu Kefas of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in the Taraba State governorship election, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to INEC, Agbu polled 257,926 votes, defeating his closest rival, Muhammad Yahaya of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who garnered 202,277 votes.
Emmanuel Bwacha, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came in third place with 142,502 votes.
The announcement was made by the state Returning Officer, Prof M.A. Abdulazeez, who declared Agbu the winner at 12:30 am on Tuesday.
Abdulazeez called for unity among the contestants, urging them to forgive one another. He stated that the essence of the exercise was to ensure that democracy had a strong foothold in Nigeria.
“We are doing this to ensure that democracy has gone a long way in Nigeria,” he said.
