The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disowned a fake recruitment portal inviting members of the public to apply for jobs.
The portal claims to be conducting a general recruitment exercise and lists various requirements for eligibility, including the possession of a Bank Verification Number (BVN).
It also discriminates against persons with physical disabilities, stating that they are not eligible to apply.
In a press release signed by Isa AbdulMumin PhD, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications, the CBN stated that it is currently not carrying out any general recruitment exercise and will never request the BVN of intending applicants nor discriminate against persons with physical disabilities.
The CBN warned the public to be wary of fraudulent recruitment agents who are taking advantage of the employment challenge to defraud young graduates and other eligible applicants.
Dr. AbdulMumin advised the public to verify the authenticity of any recruitment exercise by contacting the CBN or checking its official website.
