Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s President-elect, returned to the country on Monday evening after a month-long vacation in Paris.
His return was met with a warm reception from supporters and associates who gathered at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja.
Tinubu was accompanied by his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu, and son, Seyi Tinubu.
Notable personalities present to receive him included Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Governors Simon Lalong and Abubakar Sani-Bello, and former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff.
In his speech to the crowd, the President-elect expressed his enthusiasm and readiness to take on the task ahead.
“I’m happy to be back. I have rested, I’m refreshed and I’m ready for the task ahead,” Tinubu said. “Forget about what the rumour mill may have told you. I’m strong, very strong.”
Tinubu further revealed that he had been consulting and planning to assemble a competent team that would help him hit the ground running when he assumes office on May 29.
