President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met with the candidate of the All Progressives Congres (APC), Usman Ododo, who is the party flagbearer for the Kogi State gubernatorial poll scheduled for November 2023.
Ododo, who arrived at the State House in the company of Bello was endorsed by the President.
He asserted his commitment to build on the developmental strides of the current governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, which, according to him, were achieved through inclusive governance.
The gubernatorial hopeful told journalists that his wealth of experience in the private and public financial sectors and mentorship from Bello had equipped him to lead the confluence state aright, adding that he was confident of the APC’s victory in the November governorship election.
On April 14, 2023, Ododo emerged the Kogi APC governorship candidate through a direct primary election and was ratified through a special congress of the party the next day.
In his address, Governor Bello expressed confidence in Ododo’s capacity to deliver even more wins for the party in the state.
He assured Kogi indigenes of continuity in the infrastructure renewal master-plan, which he said his administration had begun seven years ago.
Bello argued that the APC in Kogi State was united, adding that the party was well-positioned to produce the next governor with a landslide victory.
Back in his office, the President gave his blessings to the APC candidate, advising the Kogi chapter of the party to run an issue-based campaign to ensure that the party retains power in November.
