The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced zoning arrangements for the leadership positions of the 10th National Assembly.
The announcement was made after a meeting held on Monday, May 8, 2023, where reports of consultations and meetings with the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other party leaders and stakeholders were considered.
According to the zoning arrangement released by the NWC, the Senate President position will go to the South-South region and will be occupied by Senator Godswill Akpabio from Akwa-Ibom.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Senate President position has been zoned to the North-West region and will be occupied by Senator Barau Jubrin from Kano.
For the House of Representatives, the position of Speaker has been zoned to the North-West region and will be occupied by Hon. Abass Tajudeen from Kaduna.
The position of Deputy Speaker has been zoned to the South-East region and will be occupied by Hon. Ben Kalu from Abia.
In a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Barr. Felix Morka, the NWC called for further consultations with necessary stakeholders to assure the support of aspirants to the National Assembly leadership positions and members of the party nationwide.
The party also urged its leaders, members, and all Nigerians to continue to work for the peace and progress of the country during and beyond the current period of leadership transition.
