In honour of Africa Day on May 25th, Meta has announced the launch of its third instalment of the ‘Made by Africa, Loved by the World’ campaign.
This year’s theme, “Rising Stars,” aims to amplify the voices and stories of eight talented individuals from across Africa who are making their mark on the global stage and reshaping the world’s perception of the continent.
The campaign showcases rising talents representing various creative industries, including music, fashion, lifestyle, and art.
The creators have self-shot vlog-style short stories that offer a glimpse into their worlds, highlighting how their African heritage inspires their creativity.
These captivating stories will be available on each creator’s Instagram page as well as the Meta Africa Facebook Page.
To further celebrate Africa’s authenticity, Meta has also launched a dedicated community Reels challenge, encouraging the African community on Instagram to share their unique expressions of dance, music, fashion, food, and art.
Participants are invited to use the hashtags #ShareYourAfrica and #AfricaMade to showcase their talents and celebrate their cultural heritage.
As part of the Africa Day festivities, Meta will host a fireside chat featuring prominent figures from across the continent.
The discussion will explore the global impact of Africa’s youth and how platforms like Instagram are fueling their rise to international prominence.
This conversation promises to shed light on the significant role that social media technologies play in amplifying African voices and stories both locally and globally.
Kezia Anim-Addo, the Director of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa, at Meta, expressed her enthusiasm for celebrating Africa Day by highlighting the stories of these rising stars.
She acknowledged the young African creatives who utilize Meta technologies, such as Instagram and Facebook, to share their narratives, express themselves, and foster connections in extraordinary and inspiring ways.
