Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student at Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra State, has finally spoken out after being accused of inflating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.
Earlier, JAMB spokesperson Sunday Fabian Benjamin had revealed that the student, who had been widely celebrated for supposedly achieving the highest score of 362 in the 2023 UTME, actually scored 249.
Benjamin alleged that Mmesoma had tampered with her result in an attempt to gain favor.
Consequently, it was announced that her result would be invalidated and she would face legal consequences.
However, on Monday, Mmesoma defended herself by stating that she had simply printed her result from the JAMB portal and was incapable of forging it.
She emphasized her consistent academic excellence, consistently ranking first since her primary school days.
Mmesoma revealed that she was summoned to the police station, where she provided a statement and was informed that an investigation was underway.
She expressed feeling traumatized by the incident and believed that there must be an underlying issue causing the misunderstanding.
