Governor Douye Diri has emerged victorious, securing a second term as the leader of Bayelsa state in the aftermath of the governorship election.
The announcement came from the Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, who also serves as the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Of Technology, Minna.
Prof Kuta declared Governor Diri as the triumphant candidate after a meticulous collation of the election results at the designated center on Monday.
Governor Diri secured a commanding lead with a total of 175,196 votes, showcasing strong support from the electorate.
His closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), trailed with 110,108 votes. The Labour Party, while making a commendable showing, polled 905 votes.
Governor Diri, who assumed office in 2020, has now earned the mandate for a second term.
