Former President Goodluck Jonathan paid a visit to Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at his residence in Abuja. The purpose and details of the meeting remained undisclosed at the time of reporting.
The ruling party shared images of the visit via its official platform on Friday morning, captioning the post, “The National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, received in audience former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan at his residence in Abuja.”
As of now, there has been no official statement from the former Nigerian leader regarding the visit or its intentions.
Speculation emerged linking Jonathan to the APC’s presidential candidacy before the 2023 elections. A coalition of northern groups had reportedly procured the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms on behalf of the former president.
Notably, Jonathan had previously met with Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the immediate past Chairman of the ruling party.
These developments occurred in the wake of Jonathan’s refusal to provide a definitive response when supporters besieged his Abuja residence, inquiring about his potential candidacy for the presidency.
