The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public notice declaring former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye, wanted over alleged corruption and forgery.
The notice, signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, was shared on the agency’s official social media platforms.
Dr. Olu Agunloye, 75, a native of Akoko North Local Government Area of Ondo State, is wanted by the EFCC in connection with corruption and forgery charges.
The notice includes his photograph and provides his last known address as No. 20 Solel Boneh Way, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The EFCC urges the public to provide information about Agunloye’s whereabouts, emphasizing, “If you know his whereabouts, please don’t hesitate to inform the EFCC or the nearest police station.”
Agunloye was previously invited for questioning by the EFCC regarding his role in the six billion-dollar Mambila hydropower contract.
The former Minister, who served from 1999 to 2003, faced accusations from former President Olusegun Obasanjo of mismanaging the power project and failing to brief him on its status.
Agunloye has denied the allegations, stating that the initial contract for the project was awarded as a Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) contract in May 2003 during his tenure.
In a related development, the EFCC has also declared one Iluyomade Akinwale wanted for allegedly obtaining money under false pretense.
Iluyomade Akinwale, 39, whose last known address is No. 3, Chevron Drive, Lekki Lagos, is wanted by the EFCC for financial fraud.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Iluyomade Akinwale is urged to report to the nearest EFCC office or police station.
