Transcorp Hotels Plc, the hospitality subsidiary of Transcorp Group, has strengthened its commitment to corporate governance with the recent appointments of Alhaji Garba Abubakar and Adesimbo Ukiri to its Board.
Alhaji Garba Abubakar, the former Registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), joins the Transcorp Hotels Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective December 15, 2023.
Abubakar is renowned for his reform-minded leadership at CAC, contributing significantly to the business-friendly Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.
His 34-year corporate career includes pivotal roles such as Director of Compliance, Special Adviser to the Registrar General, and Deputy Director of Compliance at CAC.
Abubakar is a distinguished alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a member of esteemed professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association and the Institute of Directors (Chartered).
Adesimbo Ukiri, the CEO of AVON Healthcare Limited, has also been appointed as a Non-Executive Director, effective December 15, 2023.
With over 30 years of professional experience, Ukiri brings a proven track record of driving organizational transformation and inspiring leadership teams to excel.
In addition to her role at Transcorp Hotels, she serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Heirs Life Assurance Ltd and is a member of the Technology and Data Committee of the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
Ukiri is an alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and holds a master’s degree in strategy and leadership from the London Business School.
