First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, during a meeting with governors’ wives at the presidential villa on Monday, reassured Nigerians that challenging times would soon be overcome. She conveyed optimism for 2024, promising peace, progress, prosperity, and achievements for all citizens.
Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the temporary nature of the current hardship, urging collective efforts for a brighter future. The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), aligned with President Tinubu’s agenda, aims to address challenges and contribute to national development.
Under the Women Agricultural Support Programme (WASP), part of RHI, 20 farmers from each of five South East Zone states will receive N500,000 each. Additionally, coordinators of RHI states will be granted a total of N10 million to further empower agricultural initiatives.
Collaborating with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, RHI will provide training, capacity building, and agricultural inputs to support 80 female farmers from each state. Mrs. Tinubu affirmed the commitment to purchase all produce from these farms after harvest.
In a bid to encourage farming among the youth, the First Lady announced the upcoming launch of the “Young Farmers Club” in public schools nationwide. Schools with outstanding farms will receive prizes, including renovations, science laboratory equipment, ICT resources, and library upgrades.
