Nigerian actress Damilola Adegbite has taken to her Instagram page to reveal her ongoing battle with severe neck pain, describing it as “excruciating” and debilitating.
In a candid post shared on Saturday, the 38-year-old actress shared a photo of herself after a session of physiotherapy, detailing her struggle with neck pain and migraines that have persisted for over a year.
“For over a year, I’ve had an excruciating pain in my neck, literally. When the pain hits, I’m unable to function for days,” Adegbite wrote, expressing the severity of her condition.
She explained that despite relying on strong painkillers to manage the pain, the relief they provide is temporary, and the pain always returns. Additionally, Adegbite disclosed that her neck pain is often accompanied by migraines, making her ordeal even more challenging.
“I have been on the strongest of painkillers for too long. They numb the pain for a bit and it’s back to business as usual. And of course, with neck pain, comes migraines. It has been hell,“ she said.
“I started physiotherapy over a week ago. I have noticed the pain is less. I have only taken a painkiller once since then. If you know me well, this is a big deal!
“I am not supposed to lift weights for at least 3 months or do any kind of strenuous activities. This part is so hard for me but I’m determined to do anything to get rid of the pain.
“In the meantime, I have to wear this beautiful neck fashion accessory a couple of hours a day, so if you see me outside with it, don’t be afraid.”
