The Federal Ministry of Works has disclosed plans for the total closure of both bounds of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State, effective from noon on Wednesday to noon on Thursday.
Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, revealed this information in a statement released to the press on Monday. The closure is part of the ongoing rehabilitation works being carried out on the bridge.
“In continuation of the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Third Mainland Bridge, both bounds of the carriageways will be closed to traffic from noon on Wednesday until noon on Thursday,” Kesha stated.
She emphasized that the closure is essential for the progress of the rehabilitation works and urged all road users to seek alternative routes during this period.
“Consequently, the bridge would not be opened to traffic during this critical 24-hour period. Thus, all road users are advised to use alternative routes during this period. Please note that all inconveniences are highly regretted,” the statement read.
Motorists are advised to cooperate with traffic management officials who will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions during the closure.
