The Federal Government has announced plans to commence the distribution of grains across the nation as part of efforts to alleviate the impact of the challenging times.
Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, disclosed this significant development on Monday through his official social media handle, extending heartfelt compassion to those affected by the hardships in the country, particularly in the wake of recent incidents of foodstuff warehouse looting.
Addressing the nation via his Twitter account, Senator Kyari underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of its citizens, revealing that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains to be disbursed across the 36 states of the federation.
Furthermore, the minister announced that an additional 58,500 metric tons of milled rice, sourced from mega rice millers, would be released into the market to stabilize prices and ensure food security.
Senator Kyari emphasized the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure the efficient and equitable distribution of the grains to the intended beneficiaries.
Expressing admiration for the resilience of the Nigerian people in the face of adversity, Senator Kyari urged citizens to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in its commitment to address the nation’s challenges and pave the way for a more secure and prosperous future.
