A groundbreaking new study has unveiled that South African women boast the biggest average hip size in the world, surpassing countries like Nigeria and the United States.
The comprehensive research, compiled by data analysts at Gitnux, scrutinized data from multiple sources to determine hip circumference across various regions.
“The statistic states that, on average, South African women have a hip size of 41.73 inches,” the study revealed.
“This number represents the mean hip size of a sample of South African women and is derived from collecting measurements from each woman and calculating the average of those measurements.”
The analysts acknowledged that hip size can fluctuate significantly based on factors such as age, ethnicity, and geographical location.
“Through analyzing data from various sources, we have discovered that the average hip size for women typically falls between a range of measurements,” the study notes.
The study compiled the following data on average hip sizes for women across different countries:

South Africa | 41.73 |
United States | 40.2 |
Nigeria | 38.56 |
Sweden | 40.94 |

The United States trails South Africa, with American women averaging a hip size of 40.2 inches. Nigeria, another African nation, ranks high with an average hip size of approximately 38.56 inches for its women.
However, the researchers cautioned that “these statistics are just averages and individual body types can vary greatly.”
