The Nigerian Army has chased Boko Haram out of the Lame/Bura forest in Bauchi State, military sources say.
The troops reportedly killed a large number of terrorists and also seized weapons from them during the operation.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Sani Usman on Wednesday, March 11.
The statement reads:
“Quite a number of terrorists were killed, their weapons and equipment destroyed. Similarly, a sizeable number of arms, ammunitions, food stuffs, Hilux vehicles, motorcycles and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were recovered by the troops.”
Usman added that the troops also recovered three Hilux vehicles, 12 motorcycles, four AK-47 rifles, a Fabrique Nationale rifle, one Small Machine Gun (SMG), one Police Teargas pistol, 36 Primed IEDs, 56 rifles magazines and over 500 rounds of 7.62 milimetre ammunition from the terrorists.
