The 2024 Children’s Day celebration is here and it’s a great thing to celebrate every children across the world most especially every children in Nigeria.
The theme of this year’s Children’s Day celebration is “For every child, every right.”
Truly for every child there are every rights, every children in Nigeria have every right to affordable and qualitative education, secured environment, peaceful association, good healthcare delivery, freedom of expression, Parental care and lots more.
However, are the children in Nigeria enjoying all these rights and privileges, it is of utmost importance to address the difficulties and challenges confronted by every children in Nigeria.
Nigeria as a country with 223 million population is enriched with 42 percentage of her population with under 15 years old, while 70 percentage is under 30 years of age making Nigeria a country with younger population according to National Bureau of Statistics.
However these children still remain subjugated in their fatherland, the economic situation within the Nation is making these children feel depressed and hopeless.
The Nigeria government needs to understand that these children are the future of this Nation, the current younger generation of the Nigeria Nation needs to be given access to better life and good living conditions.
The right of every children living in Nigeria must be uphold by the government, because without giving good accord to the children by the elderly in position of authority, then the future of the Nation is at stake.
There needs to be quality and affordable educational services for every children in Nigeria.
Report has it that Twenty-seven (27) out of Thirty-six (36) states have not accessed the N54.9 billion Universal Basic Education Commission fund, at least Basic Education to Secondary Education needs to be mandated and accessible for every Children in Nigeria with an extra curriculum of vocational skill acquisition at a tender age, the essence of basic education to secondary education is for the children to understand the nitty gritty of life, with my experience as a graduate of tertiary institution which is University, I realized that skill or talent will pave the way for a successful adventure in Nigeria, however the essence of tertiary institution is to broaden the knowledge acquired in secondary school.
For us to progress as a Nation, we must optimise the quality and standard of (education) information acquired by the younger generation (the children), children in Nigeria must not be use as weapon of insurgency, about 10,000 children were co-opted into Boko Haram’s army between 2009 and 2019 according to the European Institute University, in North-East 83 children were used as human bombs in 2017, this is a National call for the government of Nigeria to come to fusion and address this menace befallen us as a Nation, our children needs to be well equipped and nourish for a greater future of the Nation.
The peace we yearn for as a Nation is embedded in the growth and development of the younger generation, once the younger generation (children) of Nigeria are properly equipped by their primary government which is their parents, then the capital parents which is the local government, state government and federal government will have easy access in administering their basic right.
An elder today was once a child, therefore a child today will become an elder in the future, therefore every children have every right to be treated appropriately by those in position of authority.
The peaceful Nigeria of our dream is knitted in the realization of the younger generation for optimum development, we can only enjoy a peaceful Nigeria if the younger generation (children) are given proper education (orientation).
The government needs to prioritize the welfare of the children, there needs to be a formidable force to cater for the accessibility of the Nigeria children to good health care delivery, once every children in Nigeria are accessible to good health care by the government, then the future of the Nation is secured.
For every Child, every right.
Happy Children’s Day.
