The Federal Government of Nigeria has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrike on a civilian camp in Rafah, Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of at least 45 people, mostly women and children.
In a statement issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the government denounced the attack as part of a disturbing pattern of strikes targeting non-combatants in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
The airstrike on Rafah, which took place on Sunday, May 26, has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with reports of serial bombings of schools, hospitals, and markets.
Nigeria has expressed profound concern for the safety and welfare of the civilian population in Gaza, calling for an immediate cessation of violence and a swift resolution to the conflict.
The government has also urged all stakeholders, including Israel, Palestine, the United Nations, the European Union, human rights groups, and the international community, to intensify efforts towards a peaceful resolution.
