The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, has summoned the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to explain the Super Eagles’ disappointing performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series. The team managed only one point from two games, drawing 1-1 with South Africa and losing 2-1 to Benin Republic.
The minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the results, considering the significant support the NFF has received from the government. He demanded a comprehensive technical report from the NFF, explaining the reasons behind the poor performance and why consequences should not be taken.
Enoh emphasized that Nigerian football fans deserve answers and accountability from the NFF. The Super Eagles have secured only three points from four games, leaving their World Cup qualification hopes uncertain. The NFF is expected to provide a detailed report to the minister, explaining the team’s underperformance.
