President Bola Tinubu presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja on Monday, July 15, 2024. The meeting commenced with a minute of silence in honor of Ahmed Muhammed Gusau, a former cabinet member and deputy governor of old Sokoto state, who passed away on May 25, 2024.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, notified the council of Gusau’s passing before the meeting began. Vice President Kassim Shettima, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other council members attended the meeting.
The FEC meeting follows last week’s decision to defer memoranda for several key projects overseen by the Federal Ministry of Works. The projects, inherited from previous administrations, require augmentation to ensure probity, proficiency, and diligence in their execution.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, announced that President Tinubu directed a review of the procurement act to provide a better basis for performance regarding infrastructural development.
