The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’adu Abubakar III, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, have jointly appealed for an end to the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests. They urged protesters to sheath their swords and engage in dialogue with the government.
In a statement released on Friday, the religious leaders expressed concern over the violent turn of the protests, which resulted in loss of lives and property. They emphasized that civil unrest is not the solution to the country’s challenges and called on the government to expedite action in addressing the needs and yearnings of citizens.
The leaders also urged security agencies to discharge their duties professionally, ensuring the protection of lives and property. They stressed the need for a peaceful and tranquil nation, where citizens can live without fear of violence or persecution.
