The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, disrupted an event titled “Unveiling the Power of Women and Food Security” on Thursday in Abuja, citing unauthorized use of the ministry’s name.
Kennedy-Ohanenye stated that the event was organized without the ministry’s approval and that the organizer, who was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), would face charges for alleged impersonation.
The minister explained that she had previously canceled the event, but the organizer proceeded with it, using the ministry’s name without permission. Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized that this constituted fraud and impersonation, and she would not allow the event to continue.
The arrested organizer, whose name was not disclosed, is currently in DSS custody.
