President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has provided insight into the recent surge in petrol prices in Nigeria, addressing Nigerians living in China during his official visit to the Asian country.
According to reports from Okay.ng on Tuesday, Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol, is now being sold at prices ranging between N855 and N1000.
In his final official engagement in Beijing on Friday, Tinubu highlighted the importance of the tough decisions taken by his administration, which he attributes to the recent price increase.
The president described his visit to China as “very good and successful” and expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future development.
“For example, you might have been hearing from home in the last few days about fuel prices,” Tinubu said during his meeting with Nigerians in China.
“But, can we help it? Can we develop good roads like you have here? You see electricity being constant in quantity and quality.”
He further emphasized that basic amenities enjoyed by Nigerians in China, including constant water supply and quality education, could become a reality in Nigeria, but only through collective sacrifice and commitment from its citizens.
