May Edochie, estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has addressed the criticism she has faced from men following her high-profile divorce.
Speaking in an interview on the Glasshouse Podcast with comedian AY Makun, May clarified her stance, denying claims that she advocates for divorce.
May filed for divorce in 2023 on grounds of adultery after Yul entered a second marriage with his colleague, Judy Austin.
Since then, she has faced backlash, particularly from men who argue she promotes separation and divorce.
Responding to these accusations, May said, “Some men see me as someone that is misleading their wives.” She added that her personal values align strongly with family unity and marriage, emphasizing that she does not promote separation.
“I love family and marriage, but there is a misconception about marriage that is totally different,” she explained, highlighting the traditional role of marriage in forming family structures.
May further clarified, “I’m not in any way advocating separation or divorce. Let me categorically state it now that I’m not an advocate for divorce.”
