The Ogun State Police Command has officially declared controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as “Portable,” wanted for allegedly leading a violent attack on government officials carrying out their lawful duties.
The announcement was made in a statement on Monday by the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, and made available to journalists.
According to Odutola, the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM, when three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
The officials reportedly met an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar in the area and requested an approved building plan. He informed them that his son was unavailable at the time.
However, moments later, Portable allegedly arrived armed with a firearm and other weapons, leading a group of nine thugs to attack the unarmed government officials.
“The enforcement officers sustained various bodily injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, which subsequently escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action,” Odutola stated.
She further revealed that nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable managed to flee and has since gone into hiding.
Odutola disclosed that multiple formal invitations were sent to the singer, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, but he repeatedly ignored them without any legal representation.
“Following his repeated evasion, the Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted,” she confirmed.
The police have urged the public to provide any valuable information that could lead to his immediate arrest, warning that anyone found aiding or harboring the fugitive singer will face legal consequences.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to assist the police by providing any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest. Anyone found aiding or harbouring the suspect will face legal consequences.
“For any relevant information, kindly report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels.”
