In a recent empowerment event held in Kano, Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), confidently predicted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) would face a decisive defeat in the 2027 elections, with results favoring the All Progressives Congress (APC) before 1 p.m. on election day.
The event, organized by Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin, saw the distribution of 1,037 motorcycles and 63 cars to APC leaders at both ward and local government levels. This initiative aims to bolster grassroots support and recognize the dedication of party members.
Addressing the attendees, Doguwa emphasized the strengthened unity within the APC in Kano State, asserting that this cohesion would be instrumental in reclaiming political dominance from the NNPP.
He stated, “With the unity in our party now, by God’s grace, we will reclaim our mandate in Kano before 1 p.m. on election day in 2027. The NNPP will be defeated.”
Deputy Senate President Jibrin highlighted the empowerment program’s focus on enhancing the welfare of party leaders, many of whom are industrious farmers and entrepreneurs.
He remarked, “We decided to start with empowering our party leaders who are part and parcel of the society. We know that members of the leadership of APC are well-to-do people because most of them are farmers and hardworking individuals. And that’s why we decided to empower them more so that they can live a happy life.”
Jibrin also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its progressive initiatives, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which aims to make higher education more accessible.
He noted, “The President has an array of programs designed for us. You see what he is doing with NELFUND; students can now go to school. He has also created a commission to intervene, restructure, and improve infrastructure.”
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, commended the economic reforms introduced under President Tinubu’s leadership, citing observable positive outcomes.
He stated, “We have to thank Mr. President. We have to thank him for the reforms that he initiated. We have started seeing the positive results of the reforms in Nigeria today. The cost of petrol has started coming down, the prices of food items have started coming down, and the Naira has started appreciating. We assure you that Nigeria will be taken to the next level.”
