Dara, the estranged wife of popular comedian Ijoba Lande, has finally addressed allegations of infidelity surrounding her marriage, clarifying that her only encounter with Nollywood actor Babatunde Tayo (Baba Tee) involved sitting on his lap during a game of “Truth or Dare.”
Speaking in an interview with socialite Esabod, which aired on Sunday, Dara explained that the controversial event occurred during a casual visit organized by her friend, actress and content creator Marygold, in July 2024.
Detailing the events that led to the encounter, Dara said:
“The first time I met Baba Tee was in July last year when Marygold told me we should go to his house because she wanted to invite him to the launching of her movie. When we got there, Baba Tee didn’t know I was Lande’s wife, we greeted and Marygold said she wanted to drink alcohol.
“There was no alcohol in the house, so Marygold and Baba Tee’s driver went to buy it while I sat down in the living room. Baba Tee and I didn’t talk till they returned. When Marygold entered the house, she said we should start a ‘Truth or Dare’ game. I didn’t want to, but she encouraged me, so I told Baba Tee that I was Lande’s wife, and we started the game. As the game was going on, Marygold stripped herself naked and gave Baba Tee a BJ. By then, I had already drunk 10 shots of alcohol while Marygold and Baba Tee were smoking ‘Igbo’ (marijuana). Marygold then dared Baba Tee to give me a doggy style, so Baba Tee went to get a condom.
“When he returned, I told him I would not allow doggy, but I would sit on him. We then told Marygold to turn to the wall so she wouldn’t watch us. I only sat on his lap; we didn’t do anything.”
Dara insisted that the incident, widely reported and misunderstood, did not amount to cheating, nor was it the reason for the collapse of her marriage to Ijoba Lande. She added that her husband was fully aware that she did not have a sexual encounter with Baba Tee.
However, the clarification has further stirred controversy, contradicting Baba Tee’s recent admission during an interview with socialite Esabod. The actor had earlier confessed to having a brief intimate encounter with Dara, blaming his action on intoxication.
Baba Tee had previously denied ever having physical contact with Dara, only to later retract his denial, describing the experience as a regrettable mistake prompted by drunkenness during the same “Truth or Dare” game.
On Monday, Baba Tee issued a public apology to Ijoba Lande via his official Facebook page, expressing remorse over the incident.
“I deeply regret what happened and apologise sincerely to Lande for everything that occurred,” he wrote.
