“In response to the escalating incidents of attacks and killings within Ondo State communities, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged to eliminate all criminal activity from the region. The governor made this firm commitment during a meeting with key stakeholders held in Akure, the state capital.
Reiterating his administration’s dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of Ondo State residents, Governor Aiyedatiwa declared, “Let me be unequivocal: we will not permit Ondo State to become a sanctuary for criminals.
“While we extend a welcome to all law-abiding citizens who wish to reside and conduct legitimate business here, we will not condone individuals who masquerade as farmers while using our forests as concealment for unlawful acts such as kidnapping and other offenses.
“We will mobilize all necessary resources to expel these criminals from their concealed locations.”
Furthermore, the governor urged traditional leaders, community representatives, and village heads to maintain heightened vigilance and cooperate closely with security forces.
“Should you observe any suspicious activity, immediately notify the security agencies,” he advised. “If you see something, report something. Security is a shared responsibility for every member of our community.
“I will also convene meetings with traditional rulers, as insecurity in any part of the state impacts the entire region,” he added.
Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the importance of preserving Ondo State’s standing as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states.
“Ondo State is recognized as a bastion of peace within Nigeria, and we must diligently uphold this distinction,” he concluded.
