Emir of Kano, Lamido Sansui II has urged the Saudi authorities not to blame pilgrims for the crush at the Hajj in which at least 717 people died. The authorities said some pilgrims disobeyed official instructions during the last major rite of the Hajj when about two million worshippers go to the Jamrat to throw pebbles at pillars that represent the devil.
“They should not cross each other. We are therefore urging the Saudi authorities not to apportion blame to the pilgrims for not obeying instructions.”
