The Election Petition Tribunal in Kaduna State yesterday upheld the April 11 election victory of Governor Nasir Ahmed El-rufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Polycarp Gankon of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA) had petitioned the tribunal, asking it to set aside the election because of non-compliance of the Electoral Act, exclusion of his party from form EC8 in several polling units and wards in seven Local Government Councils of the state.
He also alleged that there was massive ballot box stuffing and exaggerated results by the APC during the election.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Adebayo Adebara in over 6- hour judgment dismissed the Gankon’s petition for lack of credible evidence.
He said the petitioner’s counsel failed to prove his case that the electoral irregularities alleged to have taken place during the April governorship election lack substance.
Although the tribunal cancelled the result of some wards in seven local governments of the State,it, however, went ahead and declared El-rufai as the authentic elected Governor of Kaduna state.
