Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has approved the payment of the outstanding fees of final year students of Rivers State origin on scholarship in foreign universities.
Rivers State Commissioner of Agriculture, Mrs Onimim Jack who oversees The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) announced the decision of the State Government on Wednesday during a meeting with parents of the children studying abroad under the scholarship of the state government.
She added that the payment of the outstanding fees for the final year students on foreign scholarship will be paid in installments. She informed that Al affected foreign institutions have been contacted by the state government on the development.
She said that all other students not in final year of their studies will continue their education back in the country in two universities.
The commissioner said that all the other students will conclude their studies at the University of Port Harcourt and the Rivers State University of Science and Technology under full scholarship of the Rivers State Government.
She added that the State Government has engaged with the two institutions on the absorption of the affected students.
