Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has disclosed that the government would recruit 2, 802 teachers in the 2016 financial year.
Masari who made the disclosure while giving a breakdown of the 2016 budget estimate before the state assembly noted that the teachers would be recruited under the state basic education board, science and technical education board and ministry of education.
He said that under the state basic education board a total number of 574 teachers and their monthly salaries of N46. 5 million would be utilized in recruiting 1, 314 primary school teachers.
Similarly, the governor added that a total number of 84 teachers with the monthly wage bill of N4 million retired from service amount the governor said would be utilized in recruiting 87 teachers.
Under the ministry of education, 658 teachers with the total monthly salaries of N50. 6 million retired where he said the amount would be used in recruiting 1, 401 teachers.
According to the governor, 80% of the funds allocated to the education sector would be utilized on the rehabilitation of primary and secondary schools infrastructures across the state.
He therefore stressed the commitment of his administration to the development of education sector which was why as he said 31 % of capital allocation was earmarked for the sector.
