Many people have volunteered to search for a boy who went missing in a forest.
7-year-old Yamato Tanooka of Japan, vanished after his parents left him in the woods that are populated by bears as a punishment.
The parents punished the 7-year-old boy by driving him to the forest, dropping him off alone and then driving away.
The parents reported him missing on Saturday, but initially lied about how exactly they lost the child.
Police said that the parents initially said that their son had disappeared in the forest while they were going for a walk at the island of Hokkaido.
More than 160 rescue workers were involved in the search for Tanooka, and after the second day of searching, the parents finally admitted to police that they had lied about the circumstances of the boy’s disappearance.
The child’s parents admitted that they forced him to stay alone in the forest as punishment for throwing stones at cars and people while he, his sister and his parents were at a park near the forest.
They told the authorities that they drove for about 500 meters away from the forest and they returned around five minutes later, but their son was nowhere to be found so they called for help.
