The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has announced the arrest of a suspected kidnap kingpin, Chinaza Philip, in Abuja.
According to a statement released on Friday by the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the suspect was apprehended by the Kaduna Command on Thursday and has since been handed over to the Abuja Police Command.
The 28-year-old suspect was intercepted by operatives of the Kawo Divisional Police in Kaduna while transporting abducted individuals to Kano.
The FCT Police Command expressed gratitude to their counterparts in Kaduna for their collaboration in the arrest.
The statement reads, “The FCT Police Command wishes to confirm the arrest of one Chinaza Phillip, a notorious Abuja kidnapper by police operatives of the Kaduna state police command on Thursday 18th January 2024.
“The suspect has been handed over to FCT police command today being Friday 19th January 2024, and currently in police custody.”
The arrest comes amid a recent surge in kidnapping cases in various communities in Abuja, raising concerns about the security situation in the nation’s capital.
